AVON PARK - May 8, 2012 -Pool Paradise put up a pair of sixes in the first two innings and added four more in the third to roll over Sable Electric 16-1 in Dixie Boys baseball on Tuesday night. The win improved Pool Paradise’s record to 5-1 for the season, leaving them one game behind front running Goin Postal in the Dixie League standings. Sable Electric is still searching for their first victory of the season as their record dropped to 0-6.
Pool Paradise started the game having their first seven batters reach base. Jordan Austin led off being hit by a pitch and quickly stole second base. Trey Frazier and Jimmy Peck followed with walks. Austin and Frazier scored on a series of wild pitches and passed balls to give Pool Paradise a 2-0 lead.
Daniel Simons got the first hit of the game with a triple into left centerfield that drove in Peck. Simons scored on a single by Alex Colon to increase Pool Paradise’s lead to 4-0 with no outs.
Colon stole second base and reached third on an infield single by Michael Ford. Both Colon and Ford would score on a series of wild pitches to put Pool Paradise ahead 6-0 with no outs.
Sable Electric changed pitchers after allowing the seventh consecutive batter, Roudy Sebring, to reach base on a walk. Sebring was caught trying to steal second base and Sable Electric got the next two batters out to end the inning trailing 6-0.
Pool Paradise continued their onslaught in the second inning. Austin led off with a single and would reach third base on a throwing error by the pitcher in a pickoff attempt. With one out, Peck doubled to drive in Austin and Simons singled to drive in Peck as Pool Paradise led 8-0.
A walk to Colon, a single by Ford, Sebring was hit by a pitch was mixed in with a series of wild pitches that allowed Pool Paradise to score four more runs to take a 12-0 lead after two innings.
Peck led off the third inning with his second double of the game and scored quickly off a single by Simons, who collected his third hit and RBI of the game. This was followed by consecutive singles by Colon, Ford and Sebring to load the bases and drive in Simons to make the score 14-0.
A base loaded walk to Bubba Chavis brought home Colon and ground ball out to the pitcher scored Ford to end the top of the third inning with Pool Paradise leading 16-0.
Sable Electric put together a couple of hits in the third and scored off a base hit by Anthony Vela as the game ended after 3 innings under the 15 run rule as Pool Paradise won the game 16-1.
Both teams will be at Max Long Recreation Complex on Thursday. Pool Paradise will face the Firemen as Sable Electric will seek their first win of the season against Publix.
In Avon Park Dixie Ozone action, Delaney trailed the Cowpokes 1-0 after the first inning before putting up four runs in the second and third innings to take and 8-2 lead. The Cowpokes rallied back in the fourth inning scoring three runs to close the gap 8-5. Delaney held off the Cowpokes in the final inning to win by a final score of 8-5.
Trey Pollitthill, Cooper Massey and Abe Cevera each collected two hits for Delaney. Pollithill hits were both doubles, Massey drove in two runs, and Green had a double and an RBI.
Destiny Hinson was the offensive star for the Cowpokes with two hits and an RBI for the game.
With the win, Delaney improved their season record to 4-1 and the loss set the Cowpokes back to 2-3 for the season.
